How to use Ansible to provide S3 as a Service with StorageGRID
At the 2020 NetApp INSIGHT™ Digital Event, Senior Storage Engineer Ram Kodialbail gave a quick demonstration on how NetApp IT is using StorageGRID and Ansible to create “S3 as a Service.”
NetApp IT has built a hybrid, multicloud platform called CloudOne to provide a highly automated, self-service, cloud-based application development platforms. On this platform, database backups to StorageGRID are automatically created.
In a 12-minute video, Ram describes how IT created an “S3 as a Service” offering using StorageGRID and Ansible Tower to automatically provision S3 resources. He talks about the Ansible modules used to create a tenant, manage users, create/delete buckets, and report bucket information along with an overview of the playbook and the detailed workflow.
As a senior storage engineer with 16 years of experience in the storage industry, Ram is a member of the NetApp Customer-1 program which acts as an early adopter of new NetApp products and services. He is constantly looking for ways to improve storage operational efficiency like using Ansible modules for StorageGRID.
